Moose Family Staredown - White Mountain National Forest and Northern New Hampshire
A late afternoon hike up 4100' Cannon Mountain ended with this amazing surprise at Lonesome Lake. I was able to spend thirty minute with this moose family. They were scared over towards this shore of the lake when a bull moose came crashing into the water. As I rounded a bend to find exactly where they had run to, I came upon this clearing and saw my moose family staring back at me at close range, completely unfazed by my presence. The date was September 11, and I was even more struck by how lucky am I to live my life and see what I do.
